The pitch
Twelve mosquito repellent bracelets for a few quid. On paper, that's a decent shout if you're going camping, heading somewhere humid, or just sitting in a British garden pretending it's Spain. The community heat on HotUKDeals is solid, which usually means real people are actually buying these, not just browsing.
Do they actually work?
Honestly, this category is a bit of a minefield. Most of these bracelets use citronella or DEET-free essential oils, and the truth is they vary wildly. Some people swear by them. Others find them about as useful as a strongly worded letter to the mosquitoes. The repelling radius is short, maybe 30cm around your wrist, so if you're wearing shorts and a t-shirt, your ankles are still fair game.
That said, I know someone who took a similar pack to a festival in Portugal and reckoned they helped enough to be worth the faff. Did it help that she also used spray? Probably. These work best as part of a wider strategy, not as your sole defence.
Who this is actually for
If you're heading somewhere with serious malaria risk, skip these and get proper medical advice. But for a UK summer garden, a weekend festival, or a casual holiday in southern Europe, a 12-pack at this price is a reasonable thing to chuck in your bag. Kids tend to like wearing them more than being spritzed with spray, which is half the battle really.
Not a silver bullet. Not a con either. Just a cheap, low-effort option that makes sense at this price.
