A litre of shower gel for a fiver. Right.
Look, I'm not going to pretend this is complicated. A 1L bottle of L'Oréal Men Expert for around five quid is just a solid deal. The Subscribe and Save price nudges it down further, which is worth doing if you're not the sort to forget you've subscribed and then end up with six bottles arriving in March.
I've used the Hydra Energetic version on and off for years. It smells decent without being the kind of aggressive mint-and-glacier thing that makes your eyes water at 7am. Lathers well, rinses clean, does what a shower gel is supposed to do. The Pure Carbon one is a bit more understated, which some blokes will prefer. Barber Club is more fragrance-forward, almost barbershop-y, nice if that's your thing.
Who this is actually for
Honestly, this is for anyone who buys shower gel at Boots and just... pays full price without thinking about it. If that's you, this is a proper no-fuss upgrade. It's also great if you've got a gym bag situation and want a big bottle at home so you're never rationing the last dregs at 6am.
Who it's not for: anyone with sensitive skin who needs something fragrance-free, or anyone already sorted with a different routine. L'Oréal's Men Expert range isn't fancy, and it's not trying to be.
One genuine reservation: the bottle is big. Not cupboard-friendly if your bathroom storage is already a bit chaotic. Personally I'd stick it on the shower floor and call it a day. At this price, it's hard to argue with.
