The Cult of Elbow Grease
If you've spent any time on UK cleaning forums (no judgement, we all ended up there eventually), you'll have seen Elbow Grease mentioned about a hundred times. It's got that slightly unhinged fanbase that budget cleaning products occasionally attract. The question is whether it deserves any of it.
Short answer: mostly yes. The oven bag is the star here. You stick your oven shelves inside, pour in the solution, seal it up and leave it overnight. Come back in the morning and the baked-on grease that's been quietly setting since last Christmas just... wipes off. It's weirdly satisfying. Personally I'd been putting off cleaning my shelves for months because I assumed it would involve actual scrubbing. It didn't.
Who It's Actually For
This kit makes sense if you've got a proper grotty oven situation building up. The bag handles the shelves, the spray tackles the oven interior, and the gloves mean you're not getting chemicals all over your hands. It's not complicated.
Honest reservation: the spray bottle is decent but not magical. Heavy carbonised grease, the stuff that's been there since the dawn of time, might need a second application or a bit of help from a scraper. Don't go in expecting zero effort.
At this price point though, it's hard to argue with. Cheaper than a takeaway, sorts out a job most of us dread. If your oven looks like a crime scene, this kit is a reasonable place to start.
